The SPCO brings core chamber music repertoire to Icehouse’s modern industrial chic space, a Twin Cities musical hot spot that hosts a wide variety of music. Dvorak’s Bass Quintet (known as such because of the unusual addition of the double bass to the standard string quartet of two violins, viola and cello) was written in 1875 at a very productive and happy time for the young composer.

Mozart’s trio was written while the clarinet was still a relatively new instrument and was first performed by his friend, the early clarinet pioneer Anton Stadler.
