Schumann: String Quartet No. 1
Led by SPCO musicians
The SPCO brings core chamber music repertoire to Icehouse’s modern industrial chic space, a Twin Cities musical hot spot that hosts a wide variety of music, including rock, folk, hip hop and pop. SPCO Music Alive Composer-in-Residence Lembit Beecher’s piece Small Looking Up, about looking up to his older brother, is featured in this program about family. The program also includes a work by SPCO Principal Horn James Ferree, written for the birth of his nephew, and a string quartet Robert Schumann wrote for his wife Clara’s 23rd birthday.
