Musician Christopher Thomson brings to life his new artistic vision as Cedar Thoms merging his accomplishments as a saxophonist with his love of electronic music. This is Cedar Thoms' debut album release show, Celestial Being, joined by Martin Dosh. Minneapolis Dub Ensemble supports.

"Although Thomson calls Cedar Thoms “electronic music,” it is much more than that. Thomson plays saxophone and clarinet over various sounds and loops. As jazzy as they are electronic, his evocative songs cover a broad emotional spectrum. Thomson played with local jack-of-all-trades Dosh, who accompanied him on drums (his signature instrument) and keys. The songs ranged from mellow, ethereal soundscapes to expansive jazz. They had the perfect balance of structure and improvisation." - Erik Ritland from MUSICINMINNESOTA.COM

About Christopher Thomson:

Minneapolis-based musician Christopher Thomson, known as CT by friends and colleagues.  CT is a composer, saxophonist and clarinetist who is passionate about creating warm, vibrant music. Part of his artistic identity is as a solo artist, composing electronic music from the perspective of a performer trained in the classical and jazz tradition as Cedar Thoms. He integrates acoustic instrumentation with computer generated sounds, layering sequences of software instruments and effects with live woodwinds.

Along with composing via laptop and woodwinds as Cedar Thoms, Thomson has been creating authentic live music for several decades with a variety of other innovators. In recent years he has performed and recorded with the Grammy Award winning artist Bon Iver, touring nationally and internationally, along with appearances on critically acclaimed recordings by S. Carey, his own group The Thomson Quartet, and on stage with artists such as Dosh, Father John Misty, Delfeayo Marsalis, TU Dance Company, Mason Jennings, John Raymond, Anthony Cox, the New Standards, and Chris Bates’ Red 5.

About Dosh:

Dosh has been making independent music since 2002. A longtime mainstay of the Twin Cities music scene, he works with multiple instruments: mostly keyboards, drums and samplers; incorporating multiple disciplines, or lack thereof, into a tough-to-pin-down sound. He released his debut album Dosh, as well as Pure Trash, The Lost Take, Wolves And Wishes and Tommy on the indie label Anticon, and 2013's Milk Money was released on Graveface Records. He has done remixes for everyone from Eyedea and Abilities to Bon Iver, and has opened shows for everyone from Tune-Yards to Tortoise to Sylvan Esso. And although he's played alongside Andrew Bird, Jeremy Ylvisaker and Mike Lewis everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House to the Colbert Report, his favorite venue remains the 7th Street Entry.
