Pushing Chain is a folky-tonk duo from the northern reaches of Minnesota, featuring Boyd Blomberg on guitar and vocals and Adam Moe on fiddle and vocals. Boyd and Adam have been making music together for more than 20 years, and they believe in strong harmonies, kazoos, sad songs, and that good music will make strangers share a table.
Their current album, Sorrows Always Swim, was released in late 2018. Produced by Bill Kirchen and Mark Hallman (who are featured on the project along with more of the best players in Austin, Texas) the album contains 12 original songs that really push the "tonk" of their folky-tonk roots to 11.
“With one guitar and one fiddle, the duo generates marvelous close harmony while unafraid to stray into dissonance. The duo’s vibe is infectious enough to be investigated by the CDC; anyone who doesn’t grin during the set must be immune to pleasure.”
— Suzanne Cadgéne, Elmore Magazine (2016 Folk Alliance International Conference)
"Together they played high energy folk and acoustic honky-tonk in a fashion that would have been right in line on the set of Deadwood."
— James Killen, Houston Music Review
