IMG_2120.jpg

“Painting the Room” is a passion project started by Tera Kilbride, performance artist. It is a quintet of experienced improvisors who music/dance and text to create gorgeous sound-dance-scapes and conceptual performance. Nora Anderson (dance/text) Isabel Dammann (violin), Tera Kilbride (dance/text), Thomas C Lang (piano), Crissy Tolson (dance/text). The group came together in 2018 after having encountered each other in various performance circles after Tera and Crissy trained together in contemporary improvisation in Europe. Painting The Room grew out of a desire to create more diverse stylings of improvisation performance in the twin cities.

“What happens when you bring a group of dancers, performers, and musicians together? Come find out at Painting the Room, a collaboration between pianist Thomas C. Lang, violinist Isabel Dammann, and performers Tera Kilbride, Crissy Tolson, and Nora Anderson. The team uses music, dance, and text to create improvisational pieces covering topics such as technology, suburbia, and other aspects of our 21st century existence.” Sheila Regan, CityPages

NOTE: Thomas C Lang will not be joining this evening, so we are a quartet on Jan 3.
