Daniel Dorman + Hailey Johnson
Daniel’s music is heartfelt and introspective; it is borderline brooding but always uplifting, always finally hopeful. His music is lyrically motivated with words meant to be pondered and imitated. Daniel captivates audiences with his emotional and dynamic performances, pleading with his audience to follow him into reflection on things which matter most. Soaring clear-tenor melodies and folky less-is-more arrangements make Daniel’s songs ring true to a wide audience.
Daniel’s debut album 'Contrition’ is a profound reflection on the human condition. Drawing wisdom from diverse sources, Daniel weaves together the best of his knowledge and experience in seven songs. 'Contrition’ wrestles with despair, a desire for truth, a longing for home, and a need for personal redemption.
Standing in the ‘singer-songwriter’ tradition of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and the like, Daniel’s music is guitar-driven folk. Daniel is also heavily influenced by contemporary artists such as: David Ramirez, Noah Gundersen, Matthew Mayfield, Julien Baker and many others.
Daniel grew up in southern Ontario, receiving his first guitar and guitar lesson from his Dad at the age of five. He grew up playing and singing in church, school choir, and playing gigs at the local ski-hill which allowed him to cut his teeth as a performer at a young age. A passion for performance and the desire to truly connect with every audience he has the chance to step in front keeps Daniel moving forward.
