Mae Simpson is a singer/ songwriter born in Beaufort South Carolina. From a very early age, she would find herself singing songs that she had never heard, because they were hers. Throughout the years, she has found love in the music that she writes, with passion, soul, and a rawness reflected with each lyric. Today she works with talented hand picked musicians in the Twin cities, hoping to bring soul and female power back to the local music scene.

Big Lake:

Minneapolis band Big Lake debuted in 2014 with a self titled LP full of songs that were as ear-wormy as they were well-crafted. Their sturdy songwriting mixed with deftly layered guitar work and lush vocal harmonies helped them arrive at a unique blend of indie folk rock and alt-country. That release helped draw comparisons to Wilco and Whiskeytown and saw support from MPR station 89.3 The Current and City Pages.

The forthcoming Big Lake record dives further into their midwestern take on country music. Their evolution from synths and driving bass lines to a pedal steel and a loose country shuffle lends a natural setting for Mazurek's voice and songs. Their new record is reminiscent of Minnesota country mainstays the Jayhawks in the how Mazurek's and Carlson's voices work together but It also resembles the stripped down approach of the traditional folk arrangements on Son Volt's 'Trace'. The new release will be made available Spring 2018.
