Minneapolis songwriter, Mitchell Adam Johnson, writes nostalgia-drenched orchestral pop in line with composers like Burt Bacharach and Margo Guryan. His first full-length album, Marigold, is now being released on vinyl through Fastcut Records and cassette through Burger Records, home to artists such as Ty Segall, Ryan Adams, and The Black Lips.

SPLEENEFIT

While on a trip abroad last spring, Mitchell took a bad fall that severely injured his spleen. After two emergency surgeries and months of recovery, his spleen is feeling much happier. Proceeds from this event will help relieve some of the medical costs Mitchell has accrued.

Maple & Beech is the music of Minnesota producer Tyler Tholl and an ensemble of his friends and family. Originally Tholl’s solo instrumental recording project, Maple & Beech has grown into a seven-member band making “smart, glossy pop music” (Reviler) and visuals.

In 2017, Tholl enlisted childhood friend and drummer Pete James Johnson to record RUNDAWDAW, a synth-pop album filled with strings and horns alongside lyrics focused on repetition and technology. It includes the song “Cavers,” which Indie Shuffle called “one of the most creative indie pop tunes of the year thus far.” The duo soon followed RUNDAWDAW with the single “Sand Sing,” a horn-and-drum-heavy satire released on limited edition cassette.

Maple & Beech grew again when in 2018 vocalist Nicole Wilder, guitarist John Knauss, bassist Dan Lehn, and multi-instrumentalist Nick Syman joined the band along with Nora Kain, Tholl’s wife and behind-the-scenes creative force. Now a seven-member ensemble, Maple & Beech continues to perform and record new music.
