Classic Organ Trio performing spirited Soul Jazz
Brian Ziemniak-B3, Troy Norton-Guitar, Kevin Washington-Drums
Formed in 2014, BZ3 Organ Trio is carrying on a long Twin Cities tradition - the timeless sound of the classic organ trio. Organist Brian Ziemniak says, “The Twin Cities has had many great organists through the years - Bobby Lyle, Jack McDuff, Billy Holloman, and Steve Cherewan to name a few - and we’re just trying to follow in that tradition of playing great soul and jazz music with the lean, mean lineup of an organ trio.” Guitarist Troy Norton and drummer Kevin Washington add considerable dynamic muscle to the band, insuring a modern take on a classic sound.
Brian Ziemniak is the Twin Cities' most versatile keyboardist, consistently crossing musical boundaries while being true to the style and himself. Brian has toured internationally recently with star-studded funk group fDeluxe and popular Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer. In the jazz world he has performed with Kneebody saxophonist Ben Wendel, pyrotechnic violinist Christian Howes, noted avant garde clarinetist Jean-Brice Godet, and funk fusion group LP Music with Eric Leeds and Paul Peterson. He performs locally with numerous bands and a wide range of artists, including acclaimed R&B vocalist Fred Steele, rocker Tina Schlieske, rock group Vintage Raggs, and the Yohannes Tona Band to name a few.
Troy Norton is an award winning guitarist and producer working professionally for over 20 yrs. Voted “Best Twin Cities Guitarist”, Troy has worked and recorded with Donnie Osmond, producers Paul and Ricky Peterson, John Fields (Jonas Brothers), Tina & The B-Sides, and most recently with Grammy-nominated and Stellar award winner, F. Darnell Davis. Troy currently works out of his own studio, Studio LouKay, in Minneapolis Minnesota.
