Militzër is an original Krautrock project currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Four of the five members originally hail from Düsseldorf and the fifth is from Neuschwanstein, Germany. Very seldom seen during the light of day the members of Militzër are know for being mysterious. And downright weird. All highly skilled musicians their live shows are largely improvisational, leading many to believe they are just lazy. The band themselves dispute that view and claim to just not want to play by "The Man's rüles." Whatever that means.
Their performances overseas are legendary - including the time they played a continuous drone for 7 straight days in a German castle to protest the airing of the World Cup Finals on a schoolnight. They have been known to perform behind hastily sewn together sheets stolen from their hotel room. The band claims it was actually them behind the sheets, but eyewitnesses dispute that claim. As no footage exists of that show the truth will probably never be know, as all the audience heard that night was incessant arguing.
Little has been heard from the group since relocating to Minneapolis a few years ago. Rumor has it that they have been holed up in BingBangBong - their NE Minneapolis studio - working on a complete retelling of Wagner's Ring Cycle. And smoking a ton of weed.
The group rarely performs live, but when they do it is an event not to be missed. Always thrilling, never the same. Just don't give them an open bar tab. The last scheduled show in Milwaukee had to be cancelled when the venue refused to let them bring a live bear on stage.
